Update:  Here are the latest conditions for Anza-Borrego wildflowers along with the latest hot spots.

A steady dose of 80 degree temps is really speeding up the wildflower bloom.  A week earlier, this was just a bunch of green plants.  Now, there is a fair amount of blooming Sand Verbena, along with a number of other species.  So far, it looks to be a pretty good year for Sand Verbena and Desert Lily, and maybe not as good for other photographer favorites like Desert Gold and Brittlebush, although it is still early.

  1. Hi Ron,

Thanks for the latest update. I’m planning on visiting Anza Borrego and doing some photography immediately following the NANPA Summit in San Diego. It would be great to meet up with you either at the Summit or in A-B. Are you staying at the campground near the Visitor Center or boondocking? If you see a white VW Westfalia with Oregon license plates, that’ll probably be me.

Hi Greg – great, I hope we can meet up! The wildflowers near the mountains are also looking good – lots of variety.

I’m going to be at NANPA on Friday. We will be back here on Monday – camping in a fancy rv resort as we need fast wifi. Let me know if you will still be here next week.
