Thanks everyone!

I agree Cody - I think the heavy cloud cover made for some really nice soft light - that worked out well.

Kris, around Seward I have been carrying bear spay and using a remote - I'm pretty cautious. For these photos, I was actually accompanied by a guide who has been working around these animals for a couple of years. She seemed to know the individuals pretty well and got us close. I was also using a 600 with a 2x converter.

Thanks,

Such great expressiveness in this image Ron. I have always felt that the picture says as much about the photographer as the subject, this image tells of a great sensitivity to the emotions of wildlife.

Great shot Ron, he's adorable!

I wonder, what precautions do you take when going out bear shooting? I can imagine it's risky at times...

Wow. Simply wow. The lighting looks like it was done in a studio it's so perfect.

The presence of mom with the action and innocence of the cub is stellar.

I'd love to see more from this series just to get a glimpse of what you were working with.

Thanks Dave!

You sure got close to some bears there in Katmai - I had wondered if you saw cubs - I guess that answers my question.

That's awesome, what a great little cub. We didn't see a single cub while in Katmai, glad to see someone saw a cub.
