Borrego Rainbow

Rainbow, Anza Borrego Desert State Park, California.

The 40 plus mile per hour winds were blowing sand and water this morning, but the reward was this brief rainbow!

This was at 1/6 of a second @ f/16 and ISO 320.  I used a Canon 1Ds III and 24-105 at 28 with a two stop hard edge graduated neutral density filter at the sun-line.

Nice composition Ron! I like how the photo pulls you in deeper or pushes you out to the foreground (depending on where your eye first lands). I was just looking thru photos last night of the rainbow we had over Borrego Springs during our outing…

Fantastic! I agree that the composition is perfect. Love the way those flowers survive and brighten the landscape in the middle of the rock and gravel. Can’t beat mother nature! It takes a guy like you to find it and share it with the multitudes!!! Thanks!

Wow! What time did you capture this? Staying over at Palm Canyon and I can’t imagine you would have been out before the winds died down a bit. It was a WINDY night/morning!

Thanks a lot everyone!

I like your analysis Greg – I agree. I’m looking forward to seeing more of yours!

Thanks Joni! Mother nature can sure be a great landscaper!

Thanks Dennis!

Hi Tricia – that was this morning at sunrise, it was really nasty up there! Funny, I might have been tempted to skip it this morning if I hadn’t already paid my $8!

Thanks

I was hoping to catch a rainbow in Joshua Tree, but it did not happen. Glad to see that you got one!
