I hear Bosque is amazing, but one of the reasons I have never visited are because of stories like yours about the huge crowds. My last visit to Sedona was disappointing thanks to the traffic and crowds. It's one of the last holdouts in the west that isn't full of photographers, please help to keep it that way! Places like Bosque del Apache are no longer worth visiting because the photographers now come in by the busload. How tragic (for the wildlife, especially). They will have to put in bleachers soon, just to accommodate the photographers--and that's not a joke. It's not the individual traveling shooters that ruin a place, that will never be a problem and that's why the parks are there, but once the workshops think a place is hot or a big travel magazine writes about it, that's the end of it. Twenty years ago who would have thought pretty little Sedona would be one big strip mall-and that is EXACTLY what it has become. (They should have made it a national park when they had the chance.) Of course, if you're looking for a crystal Zodiac pin, well, Sedona is the place to go. And you can always use Photoshop to take the pink jeeps out of the wilderness shots.
