Angel’s Landing Trail, Zion National Park, Utah.

When you first see the giant 1,500′ tall monolith of Angel’s Landing from the shuttle bus, you would think there is no way anyone except the most experienced rock climbers could stand on top.  It is hard to fathom the fact that there is a regular park service maintained trail to the top!  Now it isn’t exactly like any old trail, in fact they warn you on the bus that portions of the trail near the top are only 3 feet wide, with a 1,200′  vertical drop on one side, and an 800′ vertical drop on the other, with a chain railing down the middle!Read More

This was last night under the full moon.  Man it was bright!  We were even making shadows.

This was a 30 second exposure, I was surprised by how much color and detail the digital camera was able to capture.  Fun night of photography after a great hike to Angel’s Landing, but more on that tomorrow.

We watched this guy today chase one of the ewes around up and down these step cliffs for almost a half hour, it was very entertaining!  I have always been amazed at the steep terrain these guys can traverse with ease.

We drove to Zion yesterday.  When we arrived, we didn’t have much time before sunset, so I thought we would take a quick scouting trip to get a lay of the land.  We got really lucky – I stopped at a random little pull-out and started hiking into some side canyon and stumbled into this wonderful patch of color!  It was just out of view from the road.  Then we got even luckier and found a half dozen Desert Big Horn!  That may be tomorrows post.Read More
