We did some kayaking and photography this morning. Tonight we are packing - we fly back to Alaska Monday morning. It has been an awesome trip, but it is always nice to be home.
Here are more; kayaking photos.

Lake Taminah, is a great little alpine tarn located at the top of the Shoshoko Falls from yesterday’s post.

Shoshoko Falls is a really beautiful spot with wonderful scenery and wildflowers; I would love to return to one day to do it justice. (more…)

Another photo of Taggart Lake, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming.

The last time we went running on this trail, the people just a head of us had run into a bear. It was hard not to forget this fact when we arrived at the trail-head at 4:45 a.m. and found it almost pitch dark! For some reason I thought we would have some light. (more…)

We have been seeing a fair amount of Colorado Columbine wildflowers at higher elevations - above 7,000 feet. They are a beautiful wildflower. Unfortunately there are very few wildflowers here this year. Like most of the west, it is extremely dry.

Every now and then, if we are lucky, we have an experience that WOW’s us and may even change a part of who we are forever. Today was just that sort of day for me. (more…)

Four people being thrown from a raft in some nice rapids on the Snake River - the girl in blue actually held on! There are endless outdoor recreation activities available in the Jackson, Wyoming area. (more…)

After photographing the barn in yesterday’s post, I noticed some buffalo heading towards one of the other barns. I waited, and sure enough they eventually past in front of this barn. This was about two hours after sunrise.

I know I’m not the first person to photograph this barn, but how could I pass up such a beautiful scene!

Hidden Falls is maybe the most popular hike in Grand Teton National Park. (more…)

Janine kayaking on Jenny Lake. (more…)

The Yellow-Bellied Marmots around here are similar looking, but have different coloring from the Hoary Marmot we have in Alaska.

Grand Teton this morning just a few hours ago.

As prevalent as Elk are in the fall in Yellowstone, I thought finding calves would be as easy as finding buffalo calves. (more…)

This was exciting - I had never seen a badger in my life. I found this den in the hills behind Mammoth in Yellowstone National Park.
Read more about our travels to Yellowstone National Park on our photo blog.

A field of buffalo at sunset or sunrise is an image I envisioned from the very beginning of our visit to Yellowstone. (more…)

Middle Geyser Basin right at sunset, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming.

Yesterday while hiking around in this steep canyon looking for landscape opportunities, I stumbled across the remains of a magnificent 6 x 6 bull elk! Predators most not have found the carcass as even the leg bones were completely intact and connected to the body. The rack lacked velvet, he must have died last fall or winter, it makes you wondered what could have happen to such a huge bull in his prime. Maybe he was past his prime and died of old age. (more…)
