I looked out the window at 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning and conditions were looking pretty good for a colorful sunrise as there was a gap near the horizon to the North. At 4:30 a.m., my lack of sleep paid off as I was rewarded with this beautiful morning!
Because the mountains extend so far to the Northwest and Northeast, we rarely see colorful sunrises or sunsets around here in the summer – the rising / setting sun just doesn’t have the needed gap to illuminate the underside of the clouds. Our best skies usually happen in the winter when the sun is rising and setting to the South over the ocean. What a treat!

break-your-heart beautiful
ahh… this is so beautiful! wow
we are going there this week, we would actually be in Seward Wednesday and will be there for several days before we go to Denali following your tip in your FAQ site. I really thank you for your site for it allowed me to plan for our trip in a very economical way. Anyway, looking at this most recent photo excites me. I am not a photographer, I simply enjoy outdoors and had been following your blog, though silently 🙂 I would like to take this chance to thank you again for you have been a big inspiration to me. Maybe someday, I would be able to afford your photo tours.
Incredible Ron. Not sure what’s more impressive, the flower field or the sunrise. What kept you up til 3:30?

Thanks a lot everyone!
betchai I’m so glad you were able to benefit from the tips! It is always nice to hear. It kills me to hear about people renting a car, staying in the Glitter Gulch entrance area of Denali, and then having a bad visit. Make sure you do the full day tour when you are here in Seward – they have been seeing whale! Thanks for commenting.
@ Richard Thanks! I wasn’t still up, I just woke up and peaked out the window.
Looks like a piece of heaven–beautiful beyond words! Thank you for sharing! The colors are breathtaking! I love the sky/mountain and flowers in the front–artistry! 🙂

And thanks to all those who made comments! I know many of the comments are now gone since I had to revert to a back-up, but I did see them and really appreciate the feedback!
