I did use a 3 stop hard edge grad filter, not to darken the sky, but to balance the light – with sun on the snowy peaks, that area was far brighter then the valley below. The dark sky was just an off-shoot of the filter. Was really hoping for some colorful clouds! I might have even used a 5 stop filter here – rarely use that would, but was trying it here.

Ron,
Fantastic shot. Did you use a ND filter at the top to darken the sky or is that just how the sky looked.

This is as good as it gets Ron.
Gorgeous (as usual) Ron
Could you tell us the brand/name of the filter used?
Cheers!

Thanks David! I use Singh-Ray filters: https://my-photo-blog.com/graduated-neutral-density-filters
Great picture. First I thought it was a painting. Did you not use a polariser?

Thanks! I can’t remember if I used a polarizer – I probably did, I often do for images like this.
