This was sunrise yesterday morning.  I have never seen this pretty little pond before even though it is only about 1/4 of a mile off the Lost Lake Trail – a trail I run on a couple of times a week in the Summer.  This is one of my favorite places for trail running and now photography!

  1. Both of us loved this. Did you use a split ND filter on it? Since our workshop with you, we are each taking photos with and without them regularly to see how things look, and we’re having fun. Hope you and Janine are doing well.

    Thanks a lot!

Val and John – great to hear from you guys and glad to hear you experimenting with the grad. I didn’t use one here, and usually don’t on reflection shots as the reflection and the mountains are usually fairly close in exposure, and by adding the grad you actually make the reflection brighter then the sky and mountains which looks funny. Fortunately here the light was so soft and not overly bright that I could still capture detail in the middle area. There have been occasions like this where I have used a grad on the sky / mountains and reflections – two filter with one up side down, but I didn’t need to here. Thanks!
