Colorado Columbine Wildflower photo

We have been seeing a fair amount of Colorado Columbine wildflowers at higher elevations – above 7,000 feet.  They are a beautiful wildflower.   Unfortunately there are very few wildflowers here this year.  Like most of the west, it is extremely dry.

    Hi Mark,

Well I am far from a flower expert, and our wildflower book for this area is very limited in scope, so I might have to do some more research when I get home and have better internet to make sure. The number of pedals, size and height matched the Columbine.

The one thing the local flower book said that gave me some confidence was “There is little chance of confusing this flower with another species”. That wouldn’t surprise me to still get it wrong :).
