Current Conditions Rocky Mountain National Park Fall Colors

by Ron on September 21, 2009

Bear Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.

Bear Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.

As you can see, the fall colors in the high elevations are beginning to change nicely – this was from Saturday morning.  The lower elevations still have a lot of green – if I had to predict, I think this upcoming week will be a lot better with next weekend possibly being the best.  Monday’s predicted cold front could add some nice snow on the mountains and could speed the change up a bit.  I’m getting excited for the fall colors!

Stunning image that makes the east coast bound jealous beyond belief (at least it does that to me).

Ron,
It is eye candy for me, I love the view AND colors together.

Shall I say “picture perfect?”

I grew up in the Northeast and I always hated the fall colors. It was depressing to think that cold, dreary weather was on the way for the next 6 months. Now that I live in Florida and I see pictures such as this, I’d kind of like to go back sometime to see it again.

What the heck Ron – you leave Alaska and take all the sunshine with you? Beautiful fall colors up in Denali, but pretty drab weather. :-)

Those colors up there are sure amazing aren’t they. Bummer about the weather. Unfortunately, that is a frequent occurrence as well.

Every photo in RMNP is worthy of a postcard when the aspens are turning. Was this one of Bear Lake taken on the trail to Bierstadt? The other end of that trail is pretty spectacular too, isn’t it?
