I thought I would continue my Klondike gold rush theme by driving up to Dawson City, Yukon What a neat town! You really kind of feel like you are stepping back in time. All but one street is still dirt or mud, and the sidewalks are still boards. Many of the buildings have been impeccably restored, but many haven’t. The town really has a lot of character.
Theese are a couple of building that obviously haven’t been restored. They say the second biggest threat to these old buildings after fire is permafrost. It seems that back in 1898 they didn’t know you couldn’t build heated buildings on the ground in the arctic. You can really see the effects of the melting permafrost in these buildings.
