Unfortunately, I have never seen a photo do the shear size of this mountain justice, but on those rare days when the mountain is out like this one earlier in August, it sure is an amazing sight!
I probably won’t be able to post to the blog until some time next week as we head off to photograph Alaska’s amazing fall colors.

Beautiful, this is what was hoping to take but you know the storey
When I grow up, I want to be a photographer. Not too much time left since I am already 72. In my two years in Alaska I never saw Denali in the clear except from downtown Anchorage and the range was pretty long from there. It was a constant presence on the radar screens of the region and generally burned a permanent spot on the phosphor. I drove a ’60 Austin Healey to Denali (right to the headquarters) just about 50 years ago in September and just about got snowed in. The road house in Talkeetna looked like Manhattan after some of the out-back roads. Butch
Absolutely amazing! I’ve really enjoyed the photos on your blog from Denali, and I can’t wait to see your next posts with fall colors!

I really like the smooth, surreal quality of the fog/low clouds. Very cool.

Thanks a lot everyone!
Daryl – it isn’t too late, you really need to see it up close!
I’m convinced you have the best job ever. Beautiful, peaceful, awe-inspiring photo.

I agree about the best job part – at least most of the time – thanks!
It’s hard to put a qualitative statement on pictures of this amazing feature, but, this is honestly the best of Denali I’ve ever seen. My favorite, and I’ve seen a lot of them. I get that feeling from the clouds like I’m there, you know, when you’re hiking in the mountains and you have clouds all around you! Impressive. Thanks!
