It is hard to be creative when it comes to penguin portraits – that said, I was excited to see the shadow of a nearby Gentoo penguin on the chest of this guy as I felt like it added a new dimension.

I did see the shadow first, and then tried to move in close before either bird moved away. I was able to get a number of photos and was able to point it out to another photographer before one of the birds moved.
By the way I roomed with Rawdon – we talked about and are getting excited for the bear in June!
