That is a good point John - it is more of a hands on approach. They are a lot of fun!

I love these shots with the Pocket Wizard, which I'd never heard of. It seems more like hands-on photography than using a camera trap since you have to be present to trip the shutter. I'll have to put the Wizard on my wish list....

A Blue Glacier Bear would be just awesome! We all know how rare that sighting would be, but I think if anyone could do it, it would be you or Carl!!

Thanks Jim - that is great advice - another reader emailed me with the same suggestion, and I think I will give some variation a try.

Great to see this setup is paying dividends finally. I knew it would. Patience is the key. If you put your camera out in the stream again you might consider rapping large air filled packing material around it. It will help cushion the fall and keep it afloat. I think they include this larger form of packing material in most electronic/camera shipments now. Not sure if it would work but it might be worth a try.

I really like the perspective here Ron - looks like your perseverance with the remote paid off. It is one of those shots that makes you feel just a bit uneasy because you think about a photographer being behind the camera that close.

Thanks Richard, and good observation - the click of the camera seemed to concern the bear, she backed up and went around about 10 feet away.

You are really pushing the envelope Ron. Even w/o the water, you should be happy w/ this shot. The bear looks apprehensive. probably fear of the papparazi...
