Hartman Rocks, Gunnison, Colorado

We found this spot while out mountain biking earlier yesterday, and had to come back for sunset.  By the way, this area has some of the best mountain biking anywhere, but maybe more on that tomorrow.

I’ve got a 4-week road trip coming up in October and while I wasn’t planning on going through Colorado, several of your posts have got me rethinking my route back to Jackson Hole from Arizona. Beautiful image! Can’t wait to see more!

I really like the simplicity in both composition and color. The image speaks to much more than to whats in the picture doesn’t it.

Thanks guys!

Mike, you couldn’t go wrong passing through Colorado on your return. Of course, you can’t go wrong passing through Utah either.

Love the peachy skies like these we get here in Colorado. Wonder if these are what Uncle Wiggly called sky blue pink.

I hope Mike will try Colorado on his way back to Jackson Hole. We alternate on our way between Estes Park and Sedona and its hard to miss with either. Both spectacular but very different. Monument Valley is a great gateway to either coming from the south. I first did that drive in ‘56 when we had no idea where we were going until we stumbled upon the monoliths. The road was washboard most of the way, and we got lost in Kayenta around dusk before we found ourway out to the Southeast. No paved roads until we hit Tuba City after dark. Unfortunately, I’ve lost the slides we took on that trip. . .

Hi Joni,

That is too bad you lost those slides, that must have really been something seeing this area back in those days. My mom talks about trips with her parents through the area around the same time, and describes it the same way – that would have been a real adventure just to drive through the area!

Estes Park and Sedona are both very beautiful!

Hello from Nouméa
Some very nice photos thanks for the show, but the pinkish colors and that lonely tree is my favourite
