Hidden Falls is maybe the most popular hike in Grand Teton National Park. It is on the far side of Jenny Lake, at the base of the beautiful Teton Range. It is about half a mile from the far side of the lake, but you have a couple options to get to the far side of the Jenny Lake. First, you could walk the 2 miles, or you can take a boat across. Two miles isn’t very far, but I would opt for the boat, and use the time and distance saved to hike further into Cascade Canyon. The shoreline is nice, but the canyon is much more dramatic.
Here is a secret that we stumbled upon. The boat runs every 15 minutes from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and costs about $9 for the round trip. But, they make one trip at 7:00 a.m. for $5 for the round trip. They don’t have the cash registers running then, so you need to bring the cash.
It is a big advantage going that time of morning as there are very few people. By the time we made our return trip, the boats heading out were very full – I would not want to be on the trails then. The area across from Jenny Lake is definitely a worthwhile hike.
