I never get tired of watching whales – especially when they are as active as this one was!

Whales rule! I can’t wait to spend 19 days phoographing these lovely creatures later this month.
Nice timing Ron. When you do whales, can you anticipate before the leap and have your gear setup prior or you have to point your gear every direction and pray something comes out sharp?
Nice capture Ron, 1 weeks and I will be there
Thanks Dennis – how exciting, you are almost here!
Thanks Richard. A little of both. Like this one for example wasn’t really moving, but doing fun things with its tail, so I could focus, compose, then wait. When they breach, sometimes there isn’t any warning and those are difficult to capture, but other times the will make repeated leaps in the same area, so it always pays to be ready even if you missed the first one – another breach might follow.
Jon – over 19 days you have a good chance of seeing better weather then I did!
