Hi Romy,

April can be kind of a tough month to visit. There is still snow around, but it is also the break-up period, so lot of mud, water and dirty snow. I don't know if any of the whale watching tours will be running then. I would prefer mid June as things will have greened up, and there should be lots more whales.

Hope that helps,

Ron

I am thinking of visiting Anchorage in April of 2009. Do you think that April "would be" an enjoyable month to visit and see the whales?

Thank you.

I haven't seen it in since late last week - I will keep my eyes open and will update this if I do see it again. The water is calm today, so it should be easy to spot.

Hey Mark,

I hope you didn't drive down here looking for it last weekend, I haven't seen him in a few days. By the way, congrats on the photos in Alaska Airline Magazine!

OK, I am absolutely green with jealousy Ron. I have been in the presence of whales only twice in my life so far - and it was magical both times. To be in an area where this can happen from a view from your office must be very rewarding.

Wow. Great photo. Being able to see whales from your office makes the winters worthwhile. Now I can see why you live in Alaska.
