I can’t believe we sold this photo!

Our old kitchen, Seward, Alaska.

Our old kitchen, Seward, Alaska.

Long time blog reader might remember this one – the only reason I even took this photo was to explain why I wouldn’t be posting for a couple of weeks – it was part of this entry for our kitchen remodel and went along with this entry showing the part of the construction process.

Well, that was the only thing I ever did with this photo – I never put it on our website, or sent it to any agencies.  So we were surprised last week to get a call from a TV show producer looking to buy the image!  It sent us quickly running back to our raw files to see if we even had it – fortunately we did!  So, you may see our old kitchen on a home improvement show about remodeling kitchen from the 70′s!   Pretty funny.

Over the years we have sold numerous photos for use on TV shows, but for the first time the contract for this show specifically prevents us from saying anything like “as seen on xxx”  I guess they don’t want a free link along with some free publicity – so be it.  It appears to be a syndicated show appearing on almost every network – in places like Anchorage and San Diego, I see he is on NBC at 2:00.  :)   I think I can say that much.

Nice job Ron! I recently sold a picture as well that made me think they were kind of crazy for wanting, it was a shot of my 5 month old eating dirt in Zions. Interesting how those pictures come and go!

Enjoy!

way to go, a sale is a sale. I have put a couple more Eagle shots up on my flickr site , so you might want to look again if you have time.

@ Chris – wow, that is right up there with this one, pretty funny!

@ Dennis thanks! I’ll try to take a look in the next couple of days – we are looking to move soon.

That’s pretty cool, Ron. I Googled “old kitchen” and sure enough this photo is near the top.

I should have photographed my kitchen with a real camera before I did the floor!

I hadn’t thought of checking Google – makes sense! You should have photographed it Richard – the lady said it was too bad we had already remodeled it – might have got a remodel job for free!

That’s pretty darn cool Ron, and what a great story. I guess this will be in your stock collection now? :-)

Joni March 12, 2011 at 9:56 am

That is so neat! How about showing us what it looks like now. What channel will it be on?

Richard Wong March 12, 2011 at 10:31 am

I’ll have to post a kitchen photo then because I could really use new countertops and cabinets! Not cheap for sure.

Ron March 15, 2011 at 8:07 am

@ Mark – yep!

@ Joni This is what it looks like now: http://www.my-photo-blog.com/good-bye-brady-bunch-kitchen I don’t know when it will air, I guess they record these shows way in advance.

@ Richard – sounds good!
