Ketchikan, Alaska

When I think of Ketchikan, I think of cruise ships and jewelry stores, so I thought this reflection of a ship in the window of a jewelry store summed up the town pretty well. There are supposedly over 70 jewelry stores in this small Alaska town - most towns this size wouldn’t even have one. The city is actually considering placing a ban or limit on the number of jewelry stores.
I wouldn’t have thought someone would come all the way to Alaska and then spend time in these store - but I was wrong - they are packed! Today there are 4 large ships with over 7,000 visitors in town, tomorrow I believe there are 6 ships!
Here are many more Ketchikan Photos.

Nice Shot. With all those jewelry stores I think you should be doing a little more shopping and a little less shooting

Thanks Richard,
This is an island, but it isn’t famous for its bears. You are thinking of a peninsula in Russia with a name like that, and famous for its bears.

Hi Gaylene,
It is a friendly town! And a good place to shop for jewelry. Were you able to visit Juneau or Skagway?
Thanks,
Ron
