Lake Clark National Park and Preserve belongs to all of us, past, present and future generations. Everyone is responsible for protecting it. Continuously inhabited since early prehistoric times, this region nevertheless remains wild and sparsely populated by humans.

Thanks everyone!

It is sure amazing to see these magnificent animals up close!

According to my camera which records this information, we were 28 meters from this bear. I wasn't using my remote, but we were accompanied by a guide who works around these bears full time.

Where were you at Rick?

Ron - If I knew you were heading that direction, I would have waited a few days. I was just at Lake Clark for 2-weeks, got back home on 7/23. What a beautiful area. It was my first trip to Alaska and I loved every bit of it. Maybe next time!

I love the stance captured here Ron. It certainly screams "powerful" with a touch of arrogance. :-) I love the way bear images can represent so many different aspects of the animal depending on how they are shot and composed.

Ahhh, though I am scared of bears, but I can not deny the magic of this shot. Makes me want to hug it, but I know I can't :( Thanks for sharing again this wonderful photo. Really really love it. Were you far from the bear when you took this shot and just using your remote?
