Lunar eclipse from last night, Seward, Alaska.

Not the most creative photo, but I couldn’t resist photographing the moon last night.  This was a lot of focal length – a 600 plus 2x converter on a Canon 7D – so the 35mm equivalent of 1920 mm.

  2. Wow, that is a lot of focal length Ron! I was fortunate enough to have a break in the clouds as well but only able to squeeze out a measly 280mm… 🙂

  3. Cool. I was hoping to get a bit different perspective by shooting from the top of a ladder – but alas – clouds foiled that plan. 😉

  4. I was able to catch a look at this last night but just barly my girlfriend came inside saying there is something weird happening to the moon i almost did not go outside not wont to freeze but i said what the heck and i look up and see this wonderful sight it was great. I am so glade i decided to out and look but all i had was my cell phone and lets just say yours looks much better then mine Ron lol

  5. Nice shot. I thought of your equipment spread as I was driving home this morning from my eclipse adventures and began looking forward to seeing the photo I figured you would post, which you did. Let me guess, because the photo is so sharp, there was no wind and no heat waves in Seward last night or early this morning. I’m certain of the heat waves.

    Thanks a lot everyone!

@ Mark – a ladder, that would have really changed the perspective. 🙂

It was worth a bit of cold wasn’t it Corey.

@ Warren. You know, there was a fair amount of wind down here – I took a bunch of images hoping to catch it between guest. Since it was nearly straight over-head, my bean bag would stay put – it is usually helpful in dampening that movement.
