We got a call last night from blog reader and salmon charter extraordinaire, Captain Kid. He said, ”take a look out the window and check out the moon”. I looked, no moon. Perfect I thought, this gave me a couple of minutes to get everything ready and to get in to place. Thanks Captain!

Great image Ron. Love the blues and how the moon emphasizes the sharp edges of the mountain.
Hey thanks Paul!
Wow, I love this! Just enough light and detail on the mountains, and I love the blues balanced by the yellow in the moon.
Here in LA, I was excited for the full moon as well. Here’s the image I got of the Griffith Observatory and the full moon rising:

Thanks Della,
Sweet image – you had a wonderful sky to go along with the moon!
Ron:
This is a really cool picture – is this single/double exposure ??
Love this image Ron! I’ve always been a fan of moon over mountain shots (Art Wolfe’s got a famous one), and this is spectacular. Like Gowtham, wondering how you handled the exposure.
Thanks!
You know, I thought I was going to need two exposures to maintain detail in the moon. This frame was underexposed by one stop for the moon. I actually preferred the mountains in this darker version – I liked the mood created by the dark blue, so this ended up being a single exposure.
Ron
Ron, thanks for the explanation on your choice of exposure. I think you made a great choice.
Thanks Ron – for explaining it
Great shot Ron. The moon was pretty big tonight as well.
Thanks Richard!
Sweet..shot Now that I have put the boat away for the winter, it’s snowmachine time. I also look forward to a June Whale of a time I hope we can put a trip together, maybe take Val and Janine.
Thanks Captain KId..
Thanks Captain Kid – we would love to put a June whale trip together!
Ron
Wow! That is just stunning!!
Thanks Beth!
Ron
spectacular photo…
Thanks!
Ron, I don’t know what I am more impressed with – the killer shot, or the fact someone can call you to look out your window and you have this view…
Thanks Mark – we are awfully fortunate to have a view like that, it never gets old!
