Water has always proved to be a big challenge for Alaska back country travelers.  Everywhere you go you are likely to run into a river, lake or ocean.  In the past, these bodies of water represented barriers to the back country traveler, but thanks to the invention of super light weight, but very sea worthy rafts, these once barriers are now travel corridors.  A raft like this not only fits in a backpack, but only weighs about 4 pounds!  This has opened up many new opportunities for the back country traveler or adventure racer.  Like anything, a quality, light weight product like this doesn’t come cheaply, this model cost about $800.
