Hey Mark - the Valley that is just out of sight running up the left side of this mountain is called Paradise Valley. Appropriate name!

That is a bummer Richard! I'm lucky in that I don't get a reaction to mosquito bites, so I don't tend to notice them as much as most people. Janine unfortunately gets big bumps when bitten.

You're lucky Ron. I went out to the forest and the river the last two days down here and have the mosquito bites to prove it. I foolishly left my window open and they got into my car. My hand and arm alternates between itching and hurting right now.

Hi Richard,

We are really fortunate in the part of Alaska as mosquitoes really aren't a problem. In fact, we don't even have screens on our windows. Now in other parts of Alaska - mosquitoes can be really bad this time of year!

Hi Valerie,

Thanks a lot!

Great question. I did you a 3 stop hard edge graduated neutral density filter with the transition running at a angle along the snow line. I usually disclose that stuff. Sounds like you are familiar with the filter, but if not, I wrote more about it here: http://www.my-photo-blog.com/graduated-neutral-density-filters

Ron -Gorgeous capture of the light on the flowers, trees and sky. Did you use a split neutral density filter? I always find it difficult with sunrise or sunset to capture the light on flowers like you did. If you didn't use the filter, what is your secret? (if you care to divulge!).
Thanks for wonderful photos.

Hi Florian,

Thank you very much - a compliment from someone with your collection of amazing images means a lot to me.

I think we meet a year and a half ago in Cordova. I can feel your pain waiting out the weather - that sure can be frustrating!

I enjoyed your blog and will be adding yours and Ken's to my blog reader and to my blog roll.

Can't help you on the Google thing or then I would be number 2! :)

Thanks,

Ron

Ron,
wonderful work. What a beautiful spot with the Lupines. Great images. I am biting my lips as I am "wasting my time" up here in Prudhoe Bay waiting for better weather. I did something similar in South East a few years back, where it just rained for a month.
I need to take a class about blogging from you. How do you come up first under google "nature photography blog"....???

Thanks Ken!

Looks like you are having a great summer - I'm jealous of your Lynx photos! I missed the deadline, so I don't have a Pro Pass this summer and I'm really missing Denali - might have to go anyway.

Sounds like you made a good trip to Valdez, the is a great drive. For your next trip, you might consider the Nabesna Road: http://www.my-photo-blog.com/nabesna-road-wrangell-st-elias-national-park

Or drive out to McCarthy: http://www.my-photo-blog.com/mccarthy-road-wrangell-st-elias-national-park-alaska

Both a great trips.

Thanks again,

Trust all is well. Awesome shot, love the colors and composition. Haven't visited in awhile and enjoyed looking through your posts. I am Denali for the season. Made one trip south along the Denali Highway to Wrangell and Valdez and thinking about trying it again, in hopes of better light. Wondering if the Great Kuhuna has any suggestions about locations?
