Bear cubs

An alert customer of ours spotted this photo on the cover of the Alaska section of the Anchorage Daily news today.  It was promoting a page of photos supplied by readers.  The photo was provided courtesy of Bob Armond!  I’m glad she emailed – with me on the road I might have missed it.

The unauthorized use of our photos is a constant battle, but I have never seen someone trying to pass my photos off as theirs!  For some reason I find that even more offensive.  I’m not sure how Bob got a hold of the photo, but it has appeared on the cover of greeting cards and even as a full page in a calendar, so it would have been easy for him to have scanned the photo.

I don\’t know yet. The newspaper couldn\’t provide me his email address, but they were very apologetic.  I doubt I will do anything.

  2. Hi Ron,

I don’t know who this loser Bob Armond is, but you might request that ADN re-runs the photo with the correction.
The ADN photo staff are a good crew and would not be pleased to have been misled. I’d try for Richard Murphy or Ann Raupe. Ann is just back from Colorado and I think she may be the editor this weekend.

Photo Dept. main no. is 257-4331

Some kid won a state fair competition w on of my shots a couple years ago. Quite annoying.

Hope your trip is continuing well,

Thanks Calvin – Richard Murphy did call, and couldn’t have been nicer. That is crazy about the fair! Thanks!

Mark, that photo was on a full page calendar – I’m thinking he must have scanned it from there.

  6. What a pain. Good thing someone pointed it out to you. Hopefully the paper runs a correction and they reiterate that photos submitted must be that of the submitter. By the way great photo!

  7. This photo is popping up all over the place… I saw it in Alaska magazine, and in the 2007 Anchorage Visitor Guide.

Ron, I wanted to let you know of one more place it’s appearing — my son’s second grade project on Alaska. He clipped the photo from the Visitor Guide to decorate a shoebox. (I think he’s using several of your photos. Hope that’s OK!)

    Hi Ben,

Yeah, it has been popular lately – those were a couple of places we have sold that photo recently.

I don’t have any problem with your son using it on a shoebox – in fact, I think that is pretty neat. I let students use my photos all the time for reports and that kind of thing.

    Thanks Ben.

  9. bob armond… is here……………. http://www.paratoys.com/whytrain.html

He is a jerk and has previously stolen some of my flying pictures…..

Bob Armond, Paratoys sole instructor , is ASC BFI and USPPA rated, and is the person who teaches the other instructors to be instructors .Bob Armond, is whom the movie studios call when the stunt men/woman and actors need training in powered paragliders (tv shows ,movies etc..). 100’s of students (from all over the world) are flying due to the patience, professional manner, and thorough training received from Bob Armond.
