Wildflowers in the Pioneertown Mountain Preserve, Mojave Desert, California.

I was disappointed when this beautiful area burned a few years ago, but was pleasantly surprised to find this wash with bright red wildflowers – especially this late in the year!  Given the reason we were in Pioneertown this week, seeing the drastic difference between life and death wasn’t lost on me.  Truthfully, everyday is a gift!

  1. Well said and well conveyed in the contrast of this image. I might add, that even in death, there is a rebirth.

  4. Wow. That is very nice Ron. Pioneertown is an interesting place for travel but not one that I would have expected to have good nature photo opportunities. You have a good eye!

  5. Gorgeous! Since the time in my life that I drove 30 plus miles to work in the morning and then back in the evening, all the while gawking at the Wrangell Mts., I’ve been convinced of 2 things. 1. There IS a God. 2. God is an AMAZING artist. That picture changed every minute and it never disappointed! You have a great job, capturing those moments! Thanks again for sharing!

    Thanks Richard!

Hi Ruthie – I know exactly what you are talking about – I loved that drive from Copper Center to High School everyday, those mountains always like different, but amazing! Thank you!

  7. This image really shows the contrast of what is dead and alive. The bright red bush gives the hope that there is still a chance for life for everything else in this image. The whole image looks as though there is a red tint to the image because of the bush. This is a great photo!!!
