Seward Moonrise

Moonrise, Seward, Alaska.

Moonrise, Seward, Alaska.

This was captured last night right at about sunset – a little before 4:00.

It is very similar to a mountain moonrise photo I captured and posted here a month ago.  I think it is interesting how different the hues are in this image compared to that image, even though it is basically the same scene at the same time of day.

If I am not mistaken, the full moon was near perigee this time last month and was at perigee this past weekend, according to the news. It was the biggest of 2009, which is a little sad since 2009 just started :) . Did you get any of the moon in the last couple of nights? It was gorgeous.

This is a beautiful exposure. My moon pictures always look small because I don’t have a good zoom lens yet, and I also don’t have any mountains around to put it next to :)

Hi Maria,

You are right, although I wasn’t aware of that fact at the time I wrote this post.

The moon has been gorgeous! I haven’t captured anything decent – I’m in the process of traveling through So. Cal., and never seemed to be in the right place at the right time – and I don’t have those amazing mountains. O well, that happens.

Thanks,

Ron
