Why is this girl jumping into 33 degree water in the middle of January in Alaska?
She is taking part in the 23rd Annual Polar Bear Jump-Off Festival which raises money for The America Cancer Society. Over 100 participants raised money, dressed in costumes and jumped into the freezing cold water. This is a busy but fun weekend each year in Seward, with lots of visitors coming to town - but the best part; the jumpers are expected to raise over $200,000 towards cancer research!

Great fundrasier - but not something you would see me doing!
I think they do something similar here in Michigan - water temps are probably pretty close.
