Surprise Glacier

This is Surprise Glacier reflecting in Harriman Fiord, amongst an ice flow.

We were in a boat with the engines off floating in front of Surprise Glacier.  There were numerous Harbor Seals and Sea Otters also using the icebergs as haul outs, so our strategy was to sit quietly and let the animals become comfortable with our presence.  As we waited, I played around with different compositions.  This image was shot with a 600mm telephoto lens.  There was no way to get the glacier and the ice in focus at the same time, but that was ok, I liked the effect of the out of focus ice and the focused glacier.

By the way, our patience worked, after awhile a number of seals and sea otters pasted by the boat fairly closely.
