Vegas and Valley of Fire

by Ron on July 10, 2009

Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada.

Janine in Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada.

This is a larger version of a photo I posted here last winter – I think this has got to be one of the most amazing geological features I have ever stumbled across.

I posting this again as a lead in to say Janine is done updating our main website with photos from our winter travels, and we now have updated sections for Valley of Fire State Park, and Las Vegas.

Looks like rainbow sherbet Ron. I’ve heard a lot about this place but didn’t realize it was so colorful. Janine has a lot of guts to be standing on that slope.

Yeah I don’t think she was very comfortable up there!

Wow, this place looks incredible.

Ron, I really have to blame you for making my “places to go” list so long.

LOL – thanks Mark!

I hope Alaska is near the top of that list!

Yes Valley of Fire State Park is a pretty place, we spent some time there in the end of March and there was a lot of people there then. I think I posted a couple pictures to flickr fro there also a grizzly from my recent trip Yellowstone. Looked at your photos from VOF and they all look nice.

Awesome, Ron. Man, you have been doggedly working Janine! ;)

Thanks Michael! She has been working hard – updating the website – climbing up to different vantage points to pose for photos …

Thanks Dennis – I think I saw your Yellowstone photos – I will have to look for your VOF ones – thanks!

Cool image Ron. It reminds me just how compelling the human figure is even when very small in the landscape.

Thanks Paul.
