Whistler Village

Whistler Village, Canada.

Whistler Village, Canada.

Whistler Village is a really cool little town.  The majority of the hotels, shops and restaurants are connected by a pedestrian only walkway, and access to both mountains, Whistler and Blackcomb are readily available thanks to multiple gondolas or chairlifts that originate from the town.  And if that wasn’t enough, the two mountains are also connected thanks to a new peak to peak tram that extends almost 3 miles across, and almost 1,500 feet above the valley floor!

You really don’t need a vehicle in Whistler at all.  In fact most visitors to Vancouver won’t want a vehicle either - things are close together and there are lots of mass transit options – not to mention, traffic is awful!  You have to drive right through the heart of Vancouver on lots of little surface streets to get from the airport to Whistler – I would leave that driving to a shuttle bus driver.

Unfortunately we didn’t have time to do any skiing – we really had lots to photograph in a very short period of time, but it was really tough not to ski!  That is just the bottom half of Whistler Mountain in the background.

Thanks Richard – it was a bit chilly there, especially when coming from So Cal. Probably would have felt warm coming from Alaska!
