Last week, the day following my trip to the amazing Bear Glacier Lagoon, I went back into Kenai Fjords National Park for about a 12 hour boat trip – the highlight had to be the two hours we spent with a large pod of orcas, also known as killer whales. I captured a lot of photos of them I liked, but this one with the mountains in the background was one of my favorites.

Yes it’s very nice Ron, and 3 in a line to boot
Beautiful. Can’t wait – we will be starting a photo/film production about orcas in a few days!
I was in Seward last week and did a 6 hour Kenai Fjords tour as well. We saw the 4 Orcas coming up in a row alternating coming up with the matriarch. It was very cool. I shoot a 7D and haven’t looked at them yet to see what I ended up with.

Linda – I hope your images turned out – thanks!
Wow Ron. This is awesome! What makes this one really special is the background is equally as amazing.
Great image. Love the iconic nature of it.

Very sweet image, Ron. How come you didn’t go swimming with them?

Because I’m scared to – thanks Gary!
This is spectacular! love the layered mountains in the background. I’m headed up to the Seattle area this weekend and am hoping to have a chance to photograph orcas on a whale-watching trip there.

Thanks Pat – I hope you are able to see orcas!
My 8 y.o. son says your work is very interesting because you can share your photos with people all over the world. He says thank you very much for that. He can see Alaska trough your photos.
